Hey Gang,

What's the general consensus regarding the omission of hand guards on the 2015 GS? I really liked them on my 2007 bike and whenever I've ridden something without them I miss them straight away, especially in the cold and the wet. Yet they don't seem to be fitted on the 2015 range. Are they now an optional extra, or is there a popular aftermarket set doing the rounds?

Cheers,
M.

I'm not aware they have removed the hand guards on 2015 models.

Few on here already have 2015 builds and have hand guards.

I pick my bike up on Wednesday, I had no idea they were an option,,
I will be on the phone to them as like yourself I find them usefull,,

Thanks , I was surprised ,, I do wonder are we quoting the brochure picture which doesn't have them even the earlier years,,

New BMW Motorrad Website looks like a real bag of shite. It says they are available in 3 equipment levels, but when you go to the bike configurator and select UK it just bounces you back to the homepage again. The handguards are shown as an option though, they where standard on my 2014 TE

Hmmm ... let's hope my 2015 TE has them then I get it in about 3 weeks. Literally all the 2015 GS pics I've seen have no hand guards - can't believe they'd make something like that optional. :nenau

When I test rode a GSA earlier this year in the rain, I commented to the dealer about the lack of heat from the grips and the cr*p mini hand guards.

I know it's picky but it put me off changing from my 08GSA with proper hand guards and heated grips that you have to turn down.

I guess BMW is just gradually making kit disappear and adding it from the standard list to the option list where another £ can be added.

The 2014 gs is shown without hand guards in the brochure and they are an accessory, it stated they were standard and mine had them, so fingers crossed this is only a brochure quote and not an actual bike without hand guards that the OP has seen,

If it helps, my 2013TE had them as std and every demo/courtesy GS I've ridden since has them as standard.
Can't imagine riding without them now, I would feel too exposed.

Looking at Allan Jefferies website, every R1200, GS or GSA has handguards as standard from basic to TE, XE and Enduro.

TE models definitely come with them; I'm not sure about the others. And yes, the BMW website is now a bag of shite.

EU rules, you cannot sack an idiot for failure, so all the 20 odd year old inexperienced art school graduates who designed the 1200 LC gearbox engine and accessories have been relocated to the IT department.

They are factory fitted on the XE and TE

handguards

I called allan jeffries today,
The basic spec gs 2015 model has handguards,
i collect it tomorrow and didnt want to risk airing my disbelief had they not been included,
As mentioned by a fellow tosser its standard uk fit,
thats why the 2013 -14-15 brochures showed without and an acessory option,,
i hope this helps, i was wondering,,
