I bought my 1150GS 6 months old from Mill at Sunderland ( a combined bike/car dealership and maybe thats the difference)
The bike is fine love it to bits but the aftersales service is atrocious. It took 5 months and 20 phone calls to get my service history only to find they had`nt updated it so back it went for another month. They also promised a spare key etc etc which never materialised despite innumerable calls.
Would`nt touch them with your barge pole if mine was in hospital.

I agree.

They had my bike 3 days to fix a leaking fork seal under warranty.
It immediately started to leak again. When I spoke with the mechanic he said that they knew it was still leaking but the service manager returned the bike to me anyway!

The reason for this IMHO is that my warranty was due to expire so perhaps if I hadn't noticed for another few weeks, then the bike would have been out of warranty and I'd have had to pay for the new fork leg which was actually needed to fix the problem.

They rang me a few weeks ago as I`ve had the bike a year now asking me if I want to swap it. Told them no and how about the spare key I was promised. Yes we`ll get that to you before the end of the week..........guess what...no key.
Bunch of tossers in my opinion who reflect badly on BMW.

I had a new GS on order from them last year. They messed my about for quite a while and when it came it wasn't the spec. I'd ordered. I eventually told them I didn't want it but the whole experience has left me bitter and twisted.

I recently bought a luvverly 1100 from Allan Jefferies so I'm happy now!

:D

Agree with all the comments, I bought my GS from Alan Jeffries & have had top service from them evertime.

However as I live in the Borders I thought I'd give Mill a try as they are nearer. Not only did they do a bad job they tried to over charge me by approx £200.

I've gone back to using Alan Jeffries, price for servicing is Ok and the customer service is excellent.

A buddy of mine bought a R1100RS, It wasn’t running to well so he took it to Mill for a full service, they said it’s wasn’t running right and kept it for a week, after that they give up and accepted defeat. The bill was some £400 and the bike wasn’t fixed. Quite worrying that a BMW dealer couldn’t sort there own product. The first test we did was compression, the off side pot was badly down on compression. In the end it was fixed, fault was someone had fitted the little cam gear slightly out (the keyway was damaged) causing incorrect valve timing. But the main problem was BMW never did a compression test, didn’t fix the fault and charged £400 for a bad service (the alternator and an oil pipe were left loose) Soon after it was serviced at Barry Robsons, the O2 adjuster was found defective from being turned too far so the mixture was a mile out. Barry’s mechanic sorted that and the bikes running great.
Moral of the story, don’t go to Mill
