Hi I'm looking to change the complete front end on my 1989 100gs. It has got a complete husky 610 front end on now yokes, forks, wheel, brakes it's ok suspension better than stock .But disc is not up to the job what with the crap drum at the back sometimes it gets a bit scary. I'm hoping to find another complete front end with bigger more up to date disc setup rather than faf about bigger disc new calipier etc etc. Anyone got anything in back of workshop.any ideas what setup would work well.

IMO This is the way to go. Fitting the latest WP forks will not make the old airhead into a modern motocrosser.

These specially designed triple clamps and DRZ forks offer a sort of in keeping solution and you only need to read the reviews as to the performance. A decent disc brake for a DRZ wheel is a cheaper option than an HE disc for the R100GS.

Not sure if many care, but it looks like you lose the tubeless tyre on front when this mod is completed.

You fit the tubeless wheel with suitable wheel spindle and bearings.

Its what I did. Kept the standard bearings and had an axle and spacers made up to keep it all in line.
Disk on the left fork.

There is an easy way!

I used a KTM 950 front end and had Jim Cray machine the stem to fit the steerer tube, the BMW R1150 hub to fit new bearings and make up some spacers.... one gets slightly reduced turning with the KTM triples, but still better than my ducati :-)

I might have a spare set of hpmguy triples (from an advrider group buy) that I'd sell. I bought two at the time buy only really need one. They were designed for the wp4860'forks.

dont have the bike or pictures I am sorry, but I fitted a super tenere 750 front end, wheel, twin discs, triples the whole lot it was no effort at all.

Some good ideas thanks.i brought the bike with a xr600 front end on it and it was very badly fitted, so the husky 610 was a big improvement. So I never had the original front wheel I'm not bothered about tubeless tyres or making it like a modern motocross bike just want brakes that work.i would rather buy the complete front end rather than spend ages finding all the bits and trying to make them work.

Standard DRZ forks and triples fit with the drz wheel. 320 mm disc is about 80 quid on ebay. Drz caliper works ok with BM master cylinder. Best forks are right way up 49mm Showa with rebound and compression adjustment - readily available cheaply. You will need a small spacer at the top of the steering stem.

Thanks for info
