WR250r

I am hankering after a WR250R.

They are still available new in the US, RRP about $6600 - does anyone know if it would it be feasible to import one and
register it here?

Thanks
Lloyd.

Might be worth contacting one of the big bike importers from the states like DandK . It might be your cheapest option and less hassle.

It gets a bit expensive when you add shipping, 20% vat and 8% import duty.
I was thinking of buying one in the US and riding the TAT on it then shipping it home.
Milton Keynes off road have some now and then used with 10k on them.

Managed to find a really good one in France!

Fitted some Tusk panniers to the WR in preparation for a big trip (no idea where or when though :D).

I collected this WR250R from @ikkje last weekend and I'm busy sorting it out and getting it registered

Mark bought it 10 years ago as a US import with a NOVA but never got round to registering it here in the UK

Its a 2008 with 7500 miles on it

Its getting my usual strip down , check over & refurbish treatment

Checked valve clearances and all OK , new spark plug and air filter fitted

Coolant system drained and flushed

Brakes stripped and calipers rebuilt with new seals , new HEL stainless lines ordered

Wheels removed and new tyres tubes and rim tape ordered

New chain & sprockets ordered

I've removed the EFM auto clutch and ordered a new clutch basket and pressure plate so I can put it back to a standard clutch

Next job is to remove the forks and replace the seals & dust covers and fill with fresh oil

Still waiting on the dating certificate from Yamaha , I can then MOT it against the VIN and apply for an age related registration plate

Forks removed and stripped , bushes are in good condition so rebuilt with new oil & dust seals and fresh oil

New chain & sprockets delivered along with the new tyres & heavy duty inner tubes

Replacement generator cover came but it's missing a bush . It wasnt listed on the parts fische for the cover but when I have checked it is on the fische for the starter clutch. I've ordered one but it has to come from Japan so I won't get it until mid March earliest . I'm also waiting on the clutch inner basket coming from Japan

Still no sign of the dating certificate from Yamaha UK

All the parts from Japan arrived today so its now full steam ahead on the assembly . Should get it all back together over the weekend and then get it for an MOT next week . I am then in the hands of the DVLA and how long they take to issue an age related plate

Had an hour or so free today so got the new generator cover , new clutch basket and all new clutch springs and bolts fitted

Heidenau Scout Tyres fitted and wheels balanced

New rear sprocket fitted

Front end back together , electrics all sorted , new HEL front brake line fitted , petrol tank back on .

Get the engine oil and coolant in tomorrow morning and see if it will fire up

Just the rear wheel to refit along with the new rear brake line and then the panels and seat

Hopefully get an MOT on Thursday or Friday
