Wrong Panniers

Hi all,
I have been an umpty and bought 2001 panniers for a 2002 bike! (For some reason I had in my head I had a 2001 bike - doh!!!
Anyways, these are the genuine BMW article, can I get them to fit, by buying 2002 brackets, or should I just sell the lot?

AFAIK there is no difference between '01 and '02 bikes! This is a FI gs not a carbed 'classic' I take it ?
Which part won't fit?

As above, these should fit no problem.

The pannier should hook over a rail and then pop on to the button type fixings that go where the little round plastic covers are on ya side panel.

If they are the expandable system panniers they WILL fit

Rails

Thanks guys - no internet for a while - hopefully at least that is sorted. lol

It is a FI GS. The problem seems to be that the rails I have do not look as if they will/can fit to the bike. I remember reading somewhere that there was a change I think?
They are not vario panniers, maybe they are for something much earlier but I am not sure, other than I was told they are for a 2001 GS. (maybe that is the problem - maybe not even for a GS)
Even the top box won't fit, I'll try and get some pics.

As I said, I don't mind buying 'proper' rails if I was sure the panniers would fit.

Rails II

I have checked some of the details I have and they are for an F650 up to 2001. I have this sinking feeling that they are not for a GS - hence the rails will definitely not do!
Back to my first point then - if I get a set of GS rails are panniers a 'standard' fit and would they be useable, or just sell the lot?

Don't feel to down, i've bought a set of R1200GS boxes for my F8GS. Northampton BMW showed me the large set of panniers (fitted to a R1200GS) so..i went off 3 wks later had bought the kit. Went & bought the bmw f800gs pannier frame,..guess what?

I rode straight back & was fairly fumming that they had let me be shown boxes that wouldn't fit my bike which they have dealt with enough times.

I will be ebaying the boxes or advertising on here asp.

hi warble sounds like you have the panniers for the f650 pre gs .
so sell the lot.motorworks website have some pics you can look at panniers and rails.

I think I have come to that conclusion. I'm moving in a week or so so really should have done something sooner. I'll check the site out. Thanks anyway guys.
