I've just got some panniers for R1100S, R1100RT, R1150RT, R1100S & R1150S from ebay and although the seller did say they would not fit the 1150GS, I was hoping it was because of the lack of cut-out on the exhaust side in which case (pun intended) I thought no problem as my exhaust is lowered and not in the way.

This is not the case as the sticky- out bit (technical term) by the rear footrest is nowhere near the slot on the pannier that it is supposed to go into. It does look as if the sticky-out bit were offset in the opposite direction by the same amount it is now it would fit - if that makes sense.

So has anybody out there had and fixed this problem, or is there no solution other than to get the correct panniers?

I await answers with interest.

If you can't get them to fit, I would go back to the previous owner. At the end of the day, you have bought something which he said would fit - and it blatantly doesn't. Politely ask for your money back, and leave some feedback for him.

NO, Grumpy doesn't say that.. he says the seller said they wouldn't fit the GS.

Spray them with cockpit shine, tart them up and stick them back on ebay and make a profit.

Maybe acquire the footrest hanger from one of the aforementioned models? Depends whether the offset is just down to the hanger, or whether the frame's involved.
