Does anyone have any bright / original ideas as to where to carry "bits and pieces" on a X-Challenge?

I generally like to take a small first-aid and tool kit with me on day rides and was wondering where to keep them on a X-challenge. The Kriega US-10 or US-20, looks like just the right thing for the job; but not sure if they will fit on the Challenge - nowhere to attach the straps to.

Not keen on the backpack option.

Just bolted a Kriega US-5 to rear mudguard of my KTM. Is that possible?

Ive got a TT rack and have currently an expandable bag (bought off ebay), works ok, but Ive just ordered a Wolfman enduro toolbag. The bag can be removed from its base which should be useful. The only downside I find with the xc/tail packs is I sometimes catch my boot on it when getting on/off the bike.
