Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade from the stock forks but want to keep the ABS, From what l,ve found search on here and ADV rider its seems l can use 45mm Marzocchi shiver forks with the lower fork wheel clamps from the stock forks fitted.

I,ve come across theses 45mm Marzocchi forks from a 2002 Gas Gas 400 are theses the correct ones for the upgrade?

Top Yoke 54mm
Bottom yoke 57mm
Stanction 45mm
overall 930mm

Need machine bottom cast section to fit forj internals. Look like nice forks

Taught were 43mm needed. But easy check. Measure top of you own xch forks see if they are same as ones got

Same dimensions as the stock forks and l,ve got a mate who can machine out the bottom cast sections. I,ve brought 4 different sets of ebay now with the others being returned due to the seller not stating damage in the listing but theses are in quite good condition just not sure if there "Shivers" as they don't have the shiver stickers that the others had and seem older.

Yes straight swap apart from machining as mentioned.

I have gas gas 450 fse fitted on my Xchall, massively better considering the cost.

Sent from my iPhone whilst driving and even with autocorrect I can't spell!

contact bas@hyperpro. I think he has some new shivers for the xc and can revalve/spring them for you. He's the man for setting up Xc's.

Mate of mine has his shivers being modified by Bas at the moment. He is looking forward to getting them back.

I fitted the Shivers today with the machined out BMW fork cast ends attached, Being 6ft2 and 17 stone with all my riding gear on it looks like l need the .50 springs but any ideas on what fork oil to use with the Shivers? I had 15w with the oil BMW forks with the hyperpro progressive springs fitted but the stock oil weight for theses Shivers appears to be 7.5w should l use this weight with the new forks?

Thanks :thumb2

What weight are the hyperpro springs? have you fitted these in the new forks? or have you kept the standard shiver springs?

Still got the Standard shiver springs in but l don't have a clue what weight they are, And its the same for the hyperpro springs they were purchased from touratech so l don't know what weight they are either but they appear to be a heavy rate.

Possibly a silly question, but have you been for a ride to see how they feel? this might be the way to go before worrying to much about oil weights and spring weights.

Putting a ziptie around one fork leg, just below the dust scraper and this will give you a good idea of how much travel you are or are not using, depending on how far down the fork leg it gets pushed during the ride.

Managed to take the bike for a good long ride on Saturday but springs were far too soft so went ahead and fitted the Hyperpro ones which so far seem to be the perfect spring rate, Forks feel good and the bike seems to handel alot better with the new Shivers :thumb

So just to chq I'm understanding, hyper pro springs from the original forks will fit in the shiver upgrade?

They were Hyperpro progressive ones sold by tourtech for the stock forks, As with fitting them to the stock forks l had to take a few mm's off the diameter of black plastic guides that go inside the fork springs otherwise they would not fit.

Thanks :thumb2 that may be useful depending on how mine performs once all the extra weight is on it.
