Took mine out for its first (tarmac) run today, very happy . A lovely mid sized machine and great for the little country lanes I bought my GS for, so locally does for me just what my GS did. Time to get used to it though, it rides neither like my GS or like my Beta, its an alien thing all of its own. ucho fiddling to do with the suspension etc, but seems to ride ok slightly underinflated for the shorter rider and on 'soft'.

So *I promise* to get it proper laning muddy soon :augie

Has anyone noticed though for road work how much crap spins off the beak up over the front and the rider? Ok its a dirt bike and its going to be used as such, but I think a beak extender will have to be on the shopping list for my occasional (very occasional ) wet commutes. Muddy water runs down the underside of the beak, accumulates and flys back up in yer face

Thinking about it, all it may need is a bit of rubber on the underside of the beak, that stops the water finding its way to the end and spraying off.

Traded my Dakar for an X Challenge a couple of weeks ago, and spent some time out on it yesterday. Was hunting for Green Lanes but all those on my OS map had TRO's on them so didn't fancy having the bike confiscated after only a week!

Joined TRF today, hopefully that and this site will enable me to get down'n'dirty.

XChall is a cracking bike, made me feel like a right hooligan. Punches out of corners so well, IMHO handles far better on tarmac than it has a right to!:D

Seems to be reluctant to start when hot - has about 1500 miles on it - any other XChall owners have this problem? I have read about duff batteries being replaced under warranty, not sure if a battery problem or summat else:nenau

Spent the morning out on the 1200, and the afternoon on the XC, both are great bikes and very different..

Piccies of new toy attached.

Mines fitted with an Acerbis front mud guard seems to work very well...

Hi Wreford,
have you got any details about that Acerbis mud guard? Presume it's a universal part, does it have a number on it?

cheers
