I have just bought a Remus end can for my 2007 X Country, and was a bit surprised to find it didn't come with any sort of gasket.

On enquiy of Remus agent you're supposed to use the one from the original exhaust, but on mine it it seems to be fairly well embedded, and I would have thought that trying to reuse it would prove difficult, if not impossible.

I intend to leave it in so that if I do change back again it's all ready to go.

Have therefore ordered a new gasket from BMW, but just wondered whether anyone has had this sort of experience when changing the end can.

Personally would have thought that Remus could have supplied a new gasket as a matter of course - it's not as though their equipment is at the cheap end of the market.

Any thought gratefully received - Penguin

My Remus came 2nd hand from ebay so I was not surprised to need a gasket but it seems atrange that they don't supply one. Sometimes those gaskets stick to the header, sometimes to the silencer link pipe. Sometimes they stick to both and then you have a problem as they tend to pull apart. If it is stuck in the original can you did the right thing by ordering a new one as I have never successfully removed a gasket of that type in 1 piece once it has stuck.

Thanks for that Rossi - am waiting for new gasket to arrive from BMW,

Still think it's a bit off Remus not supplyiing the gasket - like you. I can't see that it's very practical to remove the existing one with much success.

Hope the leg gets better soon.
