Not particularly familiar with these bikes until recently as I often overlook bikes that have a tall (for me) seat height. However, I'm impressed with their performance although both riders put it through its paces
Why did BMW stop producing them?
Is there an equivalent?

2 models were made

Black ones in 2007/8

Yellow ones in 2009/10

The yellow ones are lowered & as such you should be fine on one

Power & handling is the same

Rainbow have taken a yellow one this week, if you want to see a lowered one in the flesh tomorrow & try the seat height

Hmm. Many answers to that but possibly no definite one. Possibly didn't sell well enough or wouldn't fit in with the new line up? Maybe owning husky and competing with that was pointless?

One thing I'm sure of there is no real equivalent hence the second hand ones being so desirable.

The last statement apples equally to the Xchallenge possibly the best adventure bike platform ever made. IMHO
