My XCo was 'hunting' with revs rise and fall at tickover, when slowing fro junctions etc and the occasional stall. Thought I should clean out the TPS. Stripped bodywork and airbox off and set to with a can of spray carb cleaner. Then removed the round black plastic box just ahead of the rectangular shaped box (which I think is actually the TPS) on the right side of the inlet. Battery removed and I also removed various accessory leads from positive and negative as an effort to tidy up routing (heated gloves, waistcoat, phone charger, ctek charger etc). Then when reassembling as soon as both main positive and negative cables attached there's a constant whirring sound which only stops when I remove either positive or negative lead. Hard to identify source, seems to be lower in the engine than the inlet. Tried ignition but nothing comes on. Blank instrument panel. Just the whirring sound when ignition off and both cables attached.
Not sure if its related to removing the round plastic box with a pointed rod in it (mounts on front side of throttle body). Might need a better mechanic than me. So if anyone knows someone well versed in the XCo in either Hampshire/West Berkshire or Wiltshire please let me know and I'll run the bike over to them for a looksy! Or does the forum have some wisdom to share on this?
Thanks all.
