Hi,

just added this little beauty to the stable to join my 2011 Super Tenere. It is the original Super Tenere, made in 1991 and has covered just 21k miles into the intervening 21 years.

Made better still by my mate buying one as well (thanks Neptune).

We are planning on doing this year's trips to the Alps on these 'classics' and leaving the younger rascals at home.

So far these seem like a fairly cheap way to tour and dare I say, have an 'adventure'.

I bet you end up selling the 2011 bike, 'cos these old 'uns are just so nice :thumb2

It's fair to say you could have a garage full of these old bikes for the price of a new S10, GS or Explorer.

Spare parts seem to be plentiful, easy to fit and cheap.

Time will tell....

My Harley, BMW R100RT and R100GS cost me less to buy than the price of a new F800GS... I know which I'd rather have :D

Hi,

it's a UK bike - seems like there were loads of different colour schemes / sticker kits.

Going for its inaugural ride tomorrow, I will report back on progress and breakages !

Nice

Nice bike there :thumb2

I had one up till afewmonths ago when it got knicked....gutted as it was a bike i've wanted for ages. I've got some spares left in the shed if your interested inc original red seat. Pm me if you need owt

Simple Question..

Nice bike. Im looking for something similar.

This may not be the right place to ask..but did you also consider an Africa Twin? and why did you choose the XTZ ? Similar Bikes, similar age /cost ?

...Just curious thats all...

I've had both, the XTZ has the better engine but in every other the department the AT wins hands down.

The XTZ is one of those bikes we've always wanted and on paper seems to tick the boxes, the reality on the other hand.

Hi,

I did consider the Africa Twin and would still buy one if I came across a nice example.

As Timolgra has said the XTZ has the better engine but the AT is regarded as more capable in most other areas. Frankly 20 years on, neither are spring chickens and if they haven't been looked after, either could cause a world of hurt and expense.

The AT had a much longer production run and has many more aftermarket options.

Regards,
Rod

If you find your's doesn't need choke on cold start and seems heavy on fuel, consider changing the carb's emulsion tube's as they wear oval and is a common issue, it'll transform the bike....if there's a problem.

there's a very good UK forum for xtz's:thumb
