OK take each one on it's own will there be much preformance difference ?, specifically will a y piece give some extra hp ?

And who makes the best y piece and how much should I pay ?

Tony

There is literally reams and reams of info on this topic if you do a search for 'y piece' 'chip' K&N etc. Many differing opinions on the benefits/drawbacks too. Often get y-pieces & cans for sale in the fs&w section.
My opinion, on an 1100 is that it is well worth it. Better, snappier & longer-lasting power and a much better sound.

If you Junk the Kat and Standard Can, you lose almost half the weight the 1200 has lost............:D

Seriously though, there is a large weight reduction with those two items alone...........

Then stuck a K&N in and it Seems to run a wee bit quicker, certainly sounds better and it saves going on a diet!!

Can't comment on the Chip, not done that yet.......;)

AndyCam has a source for 'Y' pieces........

I've got a BBpower chip surplus to requirements (single spark) if you want one, lots cheaper than a new one :D
Cant comment on performance cos I never got around to using it.
Metal Man and Hadrian have the BBpower chips fitted, seems to work for them.

I've got a Remus Can & Link Pipe

K&N

Techlusion "Chip" (a bolt-on rather than a chip)

No idea about the power increase, but both the weight and power differences are very noticable.

I recently took off my twin alloy end cans and was amazed at how light they were, 1kg each :eek: :D

Any anoraks know how heavy the O/E system is ?

Ok, I know I must be a sad puppy but I just had to go out and grab my Cat & Can and weigh them - to say I'm gobsmacked at the result is an understatement:

Can = 5.7kg (12.5lb)

Cat = 6.8kg (15lb)

Total = 12.5kg (27.5lb)

Thats nearly 2 Stone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From what I remember that is half of the weight saving of the new 1200.

Lose some more on a diet and I've saved myself over 9k !!!

I reckon the system on my bike must save around 8kg :D

p.s. the seats not yellow anymore :P
