We have all debated the merits of Y pieces versus collector boxes for Paralevers. The debate of what to replace your rusty collector box with has now been made for you. Try your local BMW Dealer for a collector box, the reply will be "this product has been discontinued from Oct 2010" so it looks like you can only buy new Y pieces or another rusty 20 year old 2nd hand collector box

Nooo!! You can't just draw a line through it and get away with it that easily.

What type of Y piece? The Keihin one is dreadful and screws up the exhaust gases big time. What about the other ones on the market? There's always the option of fitting a mono g/s collector box and downpipes though some say it just doesn't work properly on Paralevers - hours and hours of debate to be had yet ;)

Anybody fitted the system collector box from a mono onto a paralever ?

My collector box on the paralever is still ok...tad shoddy but still solid...but the day will eventually come.......

So the collector box options are -

BSM (recomended by Redboots) http://www.bsm-exhausts.com/main/uitlaat.php?uitlaat_id=109

Keihan - Y piece - Pretty dreadful but only £132

keihan 2-2 system. Very expensive and looks naff (sounds good though)

Possibly Keihan mono g/s collector box and downpipes (We need a volunteer)

Motoren Israel/Boxer supplies - looks like the keihan one so possibly is http://www.motoren-israel.com/product_info.php?info=p447_Y-Pipe-for-R-80-100-GS--Paralever-.html

Any more?

German Fleabay
bought a new BMW Collector Box, all clamps and gaskets at the week-end for £280  hope this one last 20 years as well

My G/S was converted to 1000cc with factory parts by the PO.

He also fitted a full Staintune 800cc G/S system, with the small collector, down pipes with a crossover, and a Staintune muffler.

It work perfectly, the G/S is a real flier.

Sounds a bit fruitier than the stock R100GS, more like the GS with a Y piece.

Dont know how it would go without the crossover.

Now that there's no 'official' source you'd think it might be worthwhile for a company to tool up to produce a 'replica' in stainless?

I contacted Keihan a couple of years ago but they said they had no plans to make one.
