Can anyone advise the best Y piece and where to get one.

I tested an 1150 GS with a Remus rear can and it was too noisey.

Will the y piece with stock can be quieter?

I am planning on doing the Trans America trip next year and want this because of poor fuel in South America.

Or has anyone tried bashing out the cat in the stock centre box?

Hi,

Try using "Search"

There's loads of info on here re 'Exhausts'

Has anyone tried removing the cat from inside the stock centre can?

Legal Remus exhausts

There are two versions of the Remus Revolution silencers listed in the T'tech catalogue. Provided you don't remove the baffle, they are both legal.

However, the reason for the two versions is that one is legal with the "y" piece, and the other is legal with the standard cat' equipped centre box.

I bought one to go on the end of a "y" piece, unfortunately it doesn't fit if you already have the "Metal Mule" panniers fitted.

Had to put the standard can back on, bugger. So it is now for sale.

how much and does it have the removeable baffle ?
Titanium , ally ?

My silencer

It's Ally.

The baffle is still riveted in, and I have the little setscrew to put in it's place for MOT/plod countermeasures.

It has been on the bike for half an hour, cost £240, I'll let it go for £200.

Please don't laugh at my expensive mistake.

Jonathan.

I agree...

Before I collected my Adventure I listened to another customer's bike which had the Remus can and Y-piece fitted. It sounded good and I considered buying both and was quoted £500ish for the parts. Before I made a decision I telephoned Motorworks and asked their advice. As a result I haven't bothered with the can (which in my opinion doesn't look as good as the original anyway), but I have fitted the Y-piece (£200 + p&p). It sounds much better, as the 'cat' provides most of the silencing anyway, and I honestly believe that I would find the noise tiring on long rides with the can as well. If you wear ear-plugs as well it sounds even better - honest!

Thanks a lot for that. This was the answer I was looking for.

I am sure I would find it too noisey.

I find the wind noise from the screen horrid and will be fitting Tobinators tonight so my pain threshold must be less than others and as I am preparing this bike for the 4 months Trans America trip then I need it to be right for me.

I have a y piece for sale - give me a ring if interested.
Tried to send you a pm but you don't accept them.

Having ridden my factory standard GS with the cat and then another one with Remus Y piece and end can I chose to keep my original end can but lose the cat and put in a Y piece.

This is the single best thing I have done to my bike!

The Remus end can does give slightly better performance but not worth it in my opinion.

However losing the 10kg catalytic converter and putting in a Remus Y piece makes MUCH smoother riding both at low speed and through the mid-range. All this without making the bike too noisy.

If you haven't done it yet do it now!

Y piece #2

So;

What makes has everyone got/suggest?

£200 seems rough price

Does it invalidate your warranty if you buy one from your BMW dealer ?????
