Y Pipe

I have a general QUESTION – I have hear that by removing the collector box and replacing it with a pipe you actually decrease the power. Has anybody seen any official
Test result in the contrary or any information that a y pipe increases power as claimed by some people.

All posts I've seen on Y piece fitting (remove CAT) indicate stronger midrange and reduction or elimination of surging if your unlucky enough to have it.

If you remove the restriction in your exaust(cat)and replace with a y pipe then if all other variables are the same then its practicaly impossible to lose power under these conditions.How it afects reliability,mpg etc is another question in which there will be conflicting answers on this board.
