Hey guys,

I can see a few regular posters in this section, and I'm thinking about a Yam as my next bike.

Anyone have good experience (sales and servicing) with a dealer in the south of the UK?

My last experience with my obvious Yamaha dealer choice wasn't great so I'm looking for recommendations before I do anything this time :beerjug:

Thanks for the replies guys.

Taking the plunge, what you riding at the moment ?

I was riding a Multistrada 1200S (which is what I got after my GS) but it is no more - snapped in half when a car driver knocked me off it.

I'm going to take a look at possible replacements at the NEC, and the MT09 Tracer looks like a strong candidate, which is why I'm cureous about your experiences (good and bad) with dealers in the South / Hampshire & Dorset...

Mine came from Slocombes in Wembley.

A family business that has been there for 30 or so years (once upon a time a BMW dealer) they did a great deal, were a pleasure to deal with and even thre in the parts for the first service for free.

Unfortunately they are a bit out of the way for routine servicing for me, but if I was in the market for another Yamaha I would try them first.

Tracer will be a good bike. That triple engine is a piece of work by all accuont. Id be interested to see what you thought of the tracer after you've sat on it.

To be completely honest, my initial impression was disappointment - not with the riding position - just that I thought it looked a bit flimsy and plasticy in places.
For example the screen looks a bit wobbly, and the faux carbon side panels look a bit "cheap".

But to be fair, I went back and had another look later in the day and felt I was maybe being a little unfair to Yamaha.
As one of my mates highlighted, if you compare the £8K MT09 with the Multistrada I had before (which is around £15K) it is bound to look cheap in places - good point well made!

I think the proof will be in the riding - so we will see.

Something else that caught my eye was the KTM 1050 Adventure - I quite fancy a test ride on one of those too....
