Picked up this DT400B back in December. It's been sat unused in a container since 1999

Ever wondered where the Squirrels store their nuts? :monkeypiz

Purchased new key (£5) & new 6volt battery (£7) (y)

Cleaned original plug and checked for spark (y)

Freed off seized fuel tap & choke lever. Replaced split fuel pipe. Added some two stroke premix fuel that I reckon had to be at least 5 years old and 4 kicks later she lives :clap

Brilliant bike. Towed a mate behind me “surfing” on a plastic sledge, slaloming between the trees in his parents’ orchard- back in the day.

What a great find! It surely deserves a full resto! I really wanted one of these back in the 70’s but ended up buying a Bultaco Frontera instead. I’m looking forward to following the resto thread.

As you can see from the photo the original shocks have seen better days but I would like to get them refurbed rather than replace them with something new

Can anyone recommend a company/person who does such things on older stuff

My first thought was Hagon but I'm not sure if they will refurb 50 year old OE stuff? :duno

Definitely worth a call, at least they were around during the 70s and will know what you're talking about.

I’ve used this company a few times and always had excellent results. I don’t know if he can help but he’s a good guy and will tell you straight if he can or not.

How about denZo on here, worth asking him. He does suspension, but unsure if he would do something this old, but gotta be worth asking…

I'm having a little difficulty in sourcing a .50 oversize piston complete with rings & gudgeon pin

Everything I've found so far on has the piston minus the rings & pin :duno
