Not found much at all about the motor changes, as long as ECU-U come up with a flash for it all should be well, be nice if Yamaha have removed the low down restrictions in 1st - 3rd, but as they almost certainly to do with emissions I can't see it being a lot better, and the Flash on mine improved the whole engine performance across all gears / revs / throttle openings - probably similarly to how Twin Cam GS owners rate the remap on their bikes.
I think the biggest issue with the S10 is the delivery is "perfect" and the lack of any steps in power makes it feel bland, certainly the TC GS "felt" far perkier due to a less linear delivery, also the bike packs a huge low-midrange stomp compared to many other bikes making the top end feel weaker than it really is, in the real world the engine is really nice 95% of the time, but lacks the excitement the other 5%, and also does not give great 0-60 and top end stats, although in normal use it is pretty good, and when flashed has stupidly immense low down grunt.
I will be keen to ride the new model to compare the engine / suspension to my modified old model, but I reckon a sorted 1st Gen (Flash + Suspension) will still best the new one, and for £9k you could buy and modify a late reg low mileage used bike, £9100 will get you a 46 mile 2013 bike right now on bike trader, a fork rework and ECU-U flash would leave change from £10k for an awesome machine, I am guessing the new ones will be about £13k.
The gadgets will certainly help shift units to those drawn to the technologies, and customizable electronic suspension is definitely what I would want rather than having 3 settings someone else thought were good, cruise is also really nice, the one thing I would love to have on mine, not so much in the UK where you can rarely hold a steady speed due to traffic, but when heading across France by Motorway it would be great.
