Guys a mate of mine has bought a yamaha 125 Trailway,he's gonna restore a little and use it as a work/hack bike, can anyone here tell me what other engine he can drop in there?he'd like it to be maybe a 200 or 250 to give the bike a bit more power to get him to work.I said one of you guys is gonna know so dont let me down..........:Motomartin

I have a TW125 and converted it to 200cc with parts from America.
It is not straight forward because the TW has an extra long output shaft so the chain clears the fat back tyre, so you cannot just fit another engine.
You need to bore the crankcase mouth to accecpt the bigger cylinder liner and then replace the crank (longer stroke) cylinder barrel, piston and head.
Yamaha Serow 225 parts or TW200 parts are what you need.
Good luck with your project.

A mate of mine did a 225 conversion for a customer about 4 years ago who wanted to keep the original engine nos. The easiest way due to the amount of bits needed was to buy a s/hand serow motor.
As said the crankcases needed machining and the 125 g/box had to be used.
I seem to remember the clutches were different as were a few other parts and the motor ended up quite a mongrel.
It would be easier to import a motor from a TW200 and use that.

Thanks guys for your imput, have relayed your wise words and it looks like he's gonna get it up and running with standard 125 engine, and sell. He's now bought a wicked CCM......:Motomartin
