I agree, its looking good but will it be a bike that will be produced for more than a couple of years??

I honestly can't see any manufacturer spending millions of yen on R&D for a couple of years production.

It depends on how it sells.

Looking at the spec it's equal to or better than the standard GS in most areas. It's Japanese so it will be better built and more reliable than the GS. So it has quite a bit going for it.

We'll have to wait and see how it rides and most importantly ... PRICE.

The Multistrada is around 10.5K basic, the GS is around the same, so if the Tenere comes in around that price it'll give the GS a run for it's money. Problem is that the exchange rate Euro/Yen is crap and that's why the Japs are suffering.

My guess is £12K

Computer designed: Looks like a Varadero with a Yamaha paint job.... as a 5 year 1200GS owner I was looking for an escape... but no...

Sword sharpeners in the vacinity of Yam R & D standby.....

:blast

According to the Motorcycle Crap News website the actual finished bike is being shown at the world famous Turkish (!!) Bike Show tommorrow........

If that IS it I am a bit disappointed. Way too heavy for me to be interested.

You'll never get anything as light as a GS as everyone else uses water cooling, hence the extra weight of water and radiators etc.

Water cooling doesn't necessarily add weight, cylinders with water jackets tend to be lighter than an aircooled cylinder of the same size that's covered in fins.

Radiator can also mean doing away with the oil cooler?

I think Yamaha have missed a trick here? It's obvious that they were aiming for the GS rather than the KTM 990 but they're a long way off target. I can see a 12GS running rings around the Yam on or off-road.
