YAMAHA XT1200Z SUPER TÉNÉRÉ LAUNCHED

Computer designed: Looks like a Varadero with a Yamaha paint job.... as a 5 year 1200GS owner I was looking for an escape... but no...

Sword sharpeners in the vacinity of Yam R & D standby.....

:blast

Deffo Vardero clone, was really looking forward to this bike but it just doesnt do it for me. Just looks a bit fat and lardy and who put the spots on ? Halfords

do you own a GS?

i dont .. but have been following this bike for a while and am excited :drool

... mind you, im still drooling over the VFR1200:jager

yeah i own a GS... at least a GS is "unique" looking (same thing a mother tells her hideous child) That new offering is just generic drivel. Most uninspiring. ( same can't be said for the 660 tenere... i love the look of it). But one thing is for sure; both tenere's need to be sent to weight watchers....

It looks cool to me but unless it costs significantly less than a GS then i wouldnt be interested tbh

That's only 5 kilos more than GSA according to BMW-Motorrad site

You're right, a GSA carrying 33 litres of fuel & not 23, there's 10 litres or 10kg to be taken in to account straight away.

The Yam looks like it's got a high centre of gravity, very Varadero like, unlike a GS......

The 660 may be a little porky but at least it looks good & distinctive with it. If you painted the new 1200 black & took the luggage off, it could easily confused with a Varadero.

It depends on your view of a failure?

Varadero: May be heavier and ugly (like GS) but the FI version is a very good trailie-style tourer. Did a lot of miles around EU in comfort with good weather protection and Honda reliability.

TDM: It's only a "failure" in a UK obsessed with sports bikes. There's plenty of them in just about every other EU country. You need to try a TDM900 before discounting them. They are a very good all round machine. This the bike that BMW copied for the F range of 800 twins.

Tiger: The new 1050 does what it says in the ad "Urban Sports". It's not a new version of the old Tiger. It's a trailie style street-fighter with a fantastic engine. Can't agree with "failure"

Capanord: Ever ridden one? Suprisingly good. Meaty engine that will blow away any GS motor. Very comfy but a bit old fashioned. This may be the only one I'd agree with as a failure, but again only in UK.

Take off the rose-tinted glasses and the GS isn't perfect

What happened to all that sexy Dakar styling in the Yammy pre-production teasers? Or failing that, where's the styling of it's smaller sister?

I'm a bit disappointed TBH, I was privately hoping it might be my new bike.. Looks like a Varadero - not a brand new machine

take yer fingers off the keyboard and step back and realise its a forum and no one has tested the bike and its all fluff opinons and not worth jack but a bit of fun...:thumb2

my old 1150 bought secondhand is good enough for me and my next bike like all the others before are secondhand tried and tested by those willing to test new bikes for manufactureres with their hard earned and i thank them:thumb2
