Run up To The Yorkshire Dales Sunday 3rd March 2013
Worked this morning till 10.25am. Home for late breakfast to set myself up for a run out. Where to go, The Peaks is very nice but I wanted to go further to explore elsewhere. Julie and Hannah are off to a wedding fair so I have a few hours FREE!!!!! Excellent.
Do like to travel in company but on your own with no one to worry about is a Good Feeling. A good pace can be kept up. Looking forward to this.
By the time I am suited and booted, flask made, its 11.45am . Fuel to get , day running out, scoot off to
4p off ticket and squeeze in 32 ½ litres of 95 ron .(The cheap One)
Music on , Yorkshire Dales or Bust , bug*er , Parkway down to one lane, traffic backing up,
Hear a clock ticking in my head and a nagging voice – “your day looks set to be over at this rate”!!!
Slowly filter through the cages cut out Parkway finally on M1 for 12.45 .
Still going to the Dales and that’s final. Bit between my teeth and staying at the speed limit make good progress.
Off A1 at junction 50 onto A61 through Ripon. B6265 to Pateley Bridge,Grassington. Onward to Kettlewell-Starbotton-Buckden.Pickup Dubbs Lane. Huberholme – Outershaw. Had a stop for photos and coffee on Cam High Road. Plenty of snow up here. You can feel it, very fresh. Had air under me wheels a few times on the run up. Fantastic fun, with a care on approach to blind crests. A good brisk flowing run. What a hoot!
Warm me hands in exo2 mitts, pack up and descend to Gayle , Hawes picking up B6255 heading for Ribblehead.
Then B6479 through Horton in Ribblesdale-Stainforth. Left up Henside just before Settle,to take me through Malham – Airton then down toward A65 for home.
Quick stop for coffee and to rearrange me clothing. Set off for home having switched on my Exo2 waistcoat. Excellent bit of kit. Toasty.
Home for a curry at 6.30pm
