Computer ignoramus question No 52943543.

Right. Im on the msn main page... then ..
I press the 'mail' icon (yahoo mail)
Wee box comes up with 'You are about to view pages over secure connection'
As soon as Yahoo mail comes on I get another box
'You are about to leave secure connection'.

This never happened before and as far as I know, nothing has been changed.
Im sure the wee padlock in the corner used to be on when checking mail.

Now, I know how bikes work, but computers are still a mystery.
Ive been exploring the security settings. Lots of boxes with meaningless (to me) words , tick or not. Ive no idea.

Ive checked the AVG security centre and it says Im ok.

Please answer as if you are speaking to a child .

Although I don't use Yahoo mail, it probably hasn't changed. (something similar happens with Hotmail)

All it means is that it is going somewhere secure (starts with https://) to verify your actual logon details and then somewhere else (starts with http://) once verified username/password.

There is a setting in Tools/Internet Options - Advanced Tab, scroll down to the bottom and there is a Setting that says "Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode" - that will be "Ticked" - if you don't want the warning, then "Untick" it.

Well I didn't know that and I know it wasn't my question but thank you, often wondered why it did that myself.
