I sorted out my brake problem on the eve of my Scotland trip, i then thought i would spin the back wheel using the engine whilst on the centre stand to make double sure the brakes were not binding.
Started bike, clutch in, engage gear, clutch out and stalled it, tried and tried to start it and it refuses. Had the RAC out as they come with my insurance and the guy spends two and a half hours trying to find the fault. He suspects immobiliser and has bypassed part of it, its a Meta 357V2 and never been a problem before. Still wouldn't start and sounds like we have knackered the starter trying !
We have a spark, fuel pump fires up now (it had no supply until he bypassed the alarm) but injectors are not working, i was supposed to be going to Scotland 7 mins ago, instead im waiting for a recovery truck !!
Credit to the RAC guy, he tried much harder than any recovery service person i have seen before.

Alarms and imobilisers, almost as bad as disc locks IMO.

Alarms are a PITA. Had mine removed at the first service on my RT. They always give you problems at the worst possible moment.

Im not completely convinced it is the immobiliser, but i have had the bike 3 years and its never let me down until now.... the day before i go on my trip, and to make it worse, i was going with my mate, usually i go by myself so i feel ive let him down too.
Still waiting for the recovery truck !!

I take it you have checked all the fuses, relays. I would also check for chafing of the wires around the headstock. Unplug and replug those connections as they sometimes become intermittant if they get damp.

No doubt steptoe will be along soon ....

Dare I say Hall Sensor, just decides to go one day.... Bike turns over but won't spark. If you don't think its the alarm, go with that feeling...

Do a search on here for hall sensor, changed mine here in a cow shed no special tools...

Too late, its in at BMW, tech guy just tuts and shakes his head !! Says he will have a look in a couple of hours when there's some charge in the battery. I'm not holding my breath. I think Scotland is postponed.

Not really relevant to your current problem (and just to piss on your chips a bit more) but I don't think you're supposed to run the bike in gear on the centre stand.
I'm sure I read it knackers the U/J's in the driveshaft

Thanks for all the helpful replies, turns out it was the alarm after all. It has now been removed and the bike is back to A1 and im going to Scotland in the morning !
