Just taken my 2001, R1150GS for it's 12K service.

Only had the bike a couple of months and have already notched up 4000 miles. Love the bike, really happy with it.

Service was all fine, but, on collecting the bike was asked 'have you noticed how stiff the throttle is?' Answer, 'no, i've only had it a couple of months, only BM I've ever ridden, I thought it was meant to be like that'. Apparently not! Right arm like popeye, and having to readjust my grip on the throttle every 10 minute whilst cruising the M1 is not the norm.

So, the question is how do I fix it economically (ie cheaply). Dealer suggested might need to fit new heated grip, or then again might need to take the bike to bits to access the other end of the cables to assess/rectify possible corrosion down there. Problem is can't tell until is in bits.
Looks like a potential big cost to me.
Dealer suggested waiting until 24K service as the bike would be in bits anyway at that stage.

What should I do?

Advice, Please?

Thanks:beerjug:

First place to check is the bar end weight. Simply take it off and try the throttle again. Better? Then you just need a spacer on the bar end weight, a suitable washer will do nicely! If it's still just as heavy.................. then wait for more suggestions/solutions to come floding in! :beerjug:

Thanks guys - I'll give those suggestions a go. I'll keep you posted on the results.
