Advice required!

I have the TT Zega aluminium cases on my 650 Dakar. I want to be able to lock them up while travelling and cant decide wether to go for the integral locks or the padlocks.

The integral locks look a bit weak to me and I dont know how fiddly they are to fit:confused: .

The padlocks on the other hand look dont look like the neatest solution and I am bound to lose one or more:blast !

I think the integrals are my favoured option, anyone fitted them and are they robust?

TIA:beerjug:

I have the integrated locks as they look neater, they are no more than a deterrent to theft but then I doubt padlocks flapping in the wind would offer any more :nenau

To fit through the hole provided the padlock would need to be fairly small, most that would fit wouldn't be the most robust of types.

Think of them as a prevention to the lock flipping up and the lid bouncing down the road rather than a protector of your valuables and you'll be on the right lines.

I got the TT integrel locks :)

Quite strong and easy fit , if your worried about the fitting , pop up to Funderland and i'll drill them for you ......... :mcgun

It only takes about 5 minutes a lock :bounce1

I fitted the TT locks to a set of zegas over the weekend - about 5 minutes per lock as Sir Jams says.

You can also still use the padlock with them if you wish - the keyed lock simply replaces the slotted locking gadget.

Thanks for the advice - integral locks it is. I will get them ordered.

Sir James - thanks for the offer to drill 'em. Is it ok if I drop you a line when they arrive and maybe pop up? I will ensure there is a  in it for you. The next issue is.......... knowing TT they will probably take 8 weeks to arrive :blast .

Thanks again.:clap

I have some very robust padlocks on my Zegas, with no problems going through the holes at all.

You stop the padlocks flapping in the wind by sticking some velco on the pannier and padlock.........

Integral Locks are OK, I have them.
All any thief needs to do is wallop the lid cusp with a brick, then they are in.
The bit like an "L".

Never going to be thief proof really.
