My old Hein Gericke leather jacket's zip has finally given up and broke. I took it to the local dry cleaners/alterations shop and they wouldn't take it as they said it would break their machines due to being too thick.

Does anyone know of where it could be mended on a local high street or does it need to be sent off to a specific biking place or back to Hein Gericke to mend?

Cheers

Heil Gerike have a good reputation for very reasonable cost repairs to their own gear. I'd give them a try before anything else.

+1 Both the HGs I've used in recent years had arrangements with people who fixed or altered stuff, and both were great. I'd ask at the store.

+1 for ninelives. I've had a pair of custom trousers from them, and an alteration to an existing pair. They're practically next door to Hein Gericke in Farnborough.

Nice one guys. First off I'll try the new HG over at Hangar Lane and see what they say. A local saddler was what the women in the shop recommended. Cheers for the recommendations everyone.

I'd like to know what HG say because my buddy asked them to do a zip on a 3 year old HG jacket and they weren't interested in anything that wasn't within warranty.

As Dainese says Hideout, brilliant service, lovely lady Kate Jennings and a great run out in the countryside. Just shortening some BMW trousers for me. But beware as they have some great clothing and helmets on display at fair prices.
Oh and Saffron Walden is a great town to visit.
