Zomo Problem

Hello,
I have a zomo 550, and it was just working just perfect and the next thing the the screen went completly blank. It had plenty of battery power, but it has just switched off and will not go back on. I have read true the instructions manual, and i have tried everything. It has never giving me a problem since i got it. Can anybody help. please.

Did you keep the yellow piece of paper with the serial code on it.I have now had five zumos replaced under warranty all have exactly the same problem.The screen just goes blank and will not come back on I tried the battery etc and have now replaced the cradle etc.The dealer has told me to wire it into the canbus and not directly off the battery as shown by garmin. They reckon the problem is with the cradles having power going to it all the time and the unit getting a power surge.I now have a complete pain in the bollix with the zumo and am considering getting the navigator 111.My mates has now shit it self and he is awaiting a replacement.My dealer had five units that were awaiting return to garmin all with exactly the same problem.He reckons he has had at least thirty replaced in the last six months.

ZUMO 550 DoA

This is a recognised problem with the unit apparently, i have contacted Garmin today to return my unit as it has died and no chance or resurrection.. I have now tried powering on with the battery out - powered from PC and from Mains charger, nothing. There are a few threads on the net about this, all pointing to sending back the unit and getting a new one/replacement under warranty. The support desk in the UK are helpful if thats any consolation.

Despite this fault would i but an alternative unit? No, having used various incarnations this is still the best - ease of use, speed of satellite aquisition, clarity of diaplsy custom PoI's (speed cameras etc) and also robustness of device - all good in my book!

Zumo Returned!!!!!!

Hello there,
Well i hope i dont have the luck that you and your friends had with the Zumo Speedo. I sent mine back Last week and i recieved it back today. I got a new Zumo and it came with a new 2008 mapping aswell.. So i am very happy. and i have to agree with you Jammyk, the service was brillant. So i have nothing really to complain about just yet.
So i am very happy in general..
