Zonealarm and vista probs

After mucho deliberation and chewing of fat I've got a new pc (went for a basic cube in the end with a processor upgrade thinking I'll upgrade other bits if/as reqd. I bottled the self build idea after I couldn't suss out what i needed component wise)
Currently trying to install zonealarm but it's saying it can't find a patch and aborts the install I've downloaded all the windows updates for vista but still no joy. Anyone had a similar problem?

TBH I fannied about for that long decision wise I ran out of time, I've not got much time off work at the mo. I'm happy with what I've got both performance and value for money wise but will have a go at installing more ram etc myself as and when i need to. You might get a PM then

Installing ram is a piece of piss

Only thing is... I'm guessing that you will have the 32-bit Vista installed and that means that you can only go up to 4gb of RAM.

Have a look HERE just in case you need to do a re-install (otherwise it's BSOD time)

I have been told that one of the windoz updates is the problem at the moment, either windows or zone ( can't remember which way round ) but see's the other as a thret. If you manage to get it on it will stop you getting ont net...go to the Zone alarm site for the fix...So i have been told..

I might be wrong but I think thats a problem with XP not vista.
I managed to get around my problem by downloading the set-up file and installing it off-line.

The ZoneAlarm problem was only for WINXP and WIN2K, not Vista. Installing the latest ZoneAlarm free version (dated 12th July) took several attempts. Running the setup with the modem switched off eventually did the trick.
