so.... i want to use the canbus headstock connector with my zumo 220 but the lead that comes with the 220 is really long and has a transformer inline, which if i were to use would mean loads of spare wire and box sitting under the bars, does anyone know of another cable thats compatible without the transformer?
i know i can always hardwire to the battery but just on a whim would like to utalise the headstock connector. ;)

cheers
mike

I have a Zumo 220. I don't know about a different connector, but my advice would be not to hardwire to the battery. I did this on my bike at Christmas. The mini USB connector for the 220 is not very robust and, owing to it being constantly live, by April it had corroded to the extent that it stopped working altogether.

I have now bought a new cable (£28!!) and have a temporary connection via a BMW plug, with all the wire and transformer issues you talk about. My next move is to get my dealer to wire it into the canbus at the next service. This means that it will switch off shortly after the ignition and hopefully will not corrode as quickly.

Hope this is of some help :)
