Zumo 340

Just had a look at the Garmin web site, thinking of changing the GPS. And looked at the new Zumo 350 but also seems to be a cheaper by £50 version, the 340. When comparing spec they look to be identical. Any one got one or maybe had the new 350 for a while, thoughts or any issues.

Not sure what the differences are, if any. Last time I looked the 350 was a lot cheaper, maybe cos it is an older release? Try Amazon.

I had a 350 for a while, it was pinched, and I'll probably get another 350 sooner or later.

From what I can see the 340 lacks the car cradle and power lead. Additionally it only comes with Western Europe rather than full European coverage on the 350. I have a document supplied by Garmin, admittedly a couple of years ago, that lists the counties included in their regional mapping:

Full Europe: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Azores Islands, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Channel Islands, Croatia, Czech Republic, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Greece, Guadeloupe, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Martinique, Madeira, Moldova, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Reunion, Romania, Saint Barthelemy, Serbia & Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK, Ukraine

There maybe less memory in the 340, the specs don't say.

I looked into this recently. The base satnav seems to be the same across the 3xx range. The price of the package reflects the other bells & whistles such as mapping, and hardware in the box. The top of the range unit seems to be able to talk to some bling accessories such as tyre pressure monitors.

I think I would go for the 350 box with the full Euro maps as I may be visiting countries further east than Austria in the future.
