OK I know this has been asked but here goes again.--------- does the aux socket at the headstock on the 1200GS powera zumo OK (I've managed to get a plug from Astle's in Grimsby) Some people seem to have trouble with the CANBUS turning power off to the unit after a few mins. Could this be that these folks have wired the plug wrong, after all it has a live, an earth, and a pulse wire (which shows 12V when the bike is stationary I believe) but then pulses when moving if they wired the live to this by mistake then the old Zumo would drop onto battery.
Whats the general concensus, does it work or not, surely its there for this purpose. I don't want to go direct to the battery as that leaves the cradle live (unless a relay of some sort is fitted of course)

Any thoughts ??????

Yes, lots of people have used the socket that's in the wiring loom specifically for the BMW Sat Navs.

Several threads here on the forum and.......

GPS Sat Nav Power Connection (R1200GS, possibly all R1200 series BMW)

I think the powering off symptom you refer to relates to taking power from the back of Aux sockets and happens when there's too much current draw i.e. inclusive of whatever is plugged in to the socket.
