Hi guys...

Just took possession of new Garmin Zummo 550 today, great kit! I've been trying for ages to try load MP3 music files onto it, getting nowhere fast!

I have a 2gig SD card, I've inserted this SD card into the Zumo and spent past 2 hours trying to install music, NO joy. Must be doing something wrong(?), I've read through the manual, but still not sure what I'm doing wrong...

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated - THANKS!

I generally put the SD card into the card reader on my PC and dowload the MP3 music files directly onto it. Otherwise connect the Zumo to PC and click explore on the start menu.Click on Garmin (L) and then click on removable Disk (M) to access the SD card. Then send music files to drive (M). These are the drives that appear on my PC but they might show as different drives on your PC. The Zumo only accepts MP3 format as I'm sure you are aware of. Let me know how you get on !. :thumb

I use a card reader to transfer music as well, klik and drag. Insert card into zumo. :thumb2

MP3

As jaws100 has said the music files have to be in MP3 format (Mine were in WMA so had to change them all). Also the SD Card needs to be formatted to FAT32 to work in the Zumo.

Again I download vis the PC to the SD Card direct.

There is a Zumo web/forum site with all the answers.

MP3?

My problem seems to be I have no way of converting my CD's to MP3 format....? I don't know how or which software I need to do it with..?

Sorry, I'm stuck.

Windows Media player should rip them OK. Under rip options you should be able to select "mp3". I think this functionality started in WMP 10.

Music files to MP3 to Zumo

Ok! try this if your software supports same. In your music file folders right click on a music track. In the menu look for "convert audio format" click on this and you should get the following screen view "WINDOWS AUDIO CONVERTOR". Select file format - MP3. Click next. This will work if your computer has the software. Otherwise new idea- download your tracks on to a USB stick and get a mate who has this software to convert them for you and send them back to your SD card.
All worth a try. :thumb

P.S : I'm presuming that you already have your CD music tracks loaded onto your computer otherwise refer to Markie Wales post.
