Ive had a Zumo on my now gone 1200GSA, it was mounted on the screen support. I now have a GS without this so, whats the best way to mount a Zumo 550? (when I say mount, I mean on the bike, not in the biblical sense!).

I had the zumo mounted on the left hand side of the bar above the clocks, the zumo is then held to the left of the tacho.

another for LHS screen, use RAM-B-231Z (as shown above) sit plastic shim (RAP-319 part of kit) into u-bolt. It may pay to remove screen when fiddling about with nyloc nuts at the back, assumimg that most of have engineers fingers :augie

So how is the Garmin itself supported? I assume there is some form of plate that screws to the bike mount, I wonder how much and were to buy?
Any second hand kits out there want to swap/trade for a GSA bracket??

Why not just get the budgie perch fitted so you can have the Zumo in the what i think is the best possible position. In front and centred.

sorry, its a metal tube which goes across above the top of the instrument binnacle, and puts the satnav in a good position for viewing. Give dave a call at Astles, grimsby he will know what i mean he supplied it on my bike when i got it last year. failing that E mail me and we will arrange a meet so you can see it. Im only near Hull so its not far.

You get a mount in the box , assume its new or secondhand so check, its based upin RAM-B-178A (three parts, RAM-B-309-7 + RAM-B-201-A short arm + RAM-B-347 square AMPS base) then onto Garmin cradle and screws in their kit.

Use RAM-B-231Z in place of RAM-B-309-7 as (IMV) its better as ball post is aimed at you and not up to the sky.

Seems an exensive way to do it unless you know of some shop soiled ones!
