hi all
ive got a zumo 550 that is not powering off my 1150gsa ive tried taken out the battery and resetting it with no luck .one off the pin connectors seems to be corroded is there any way of fixing without having to send back to garmin .:beerjug:
regards james

That would be the sprung pin on the cradle? Or on the Zumo itself?

If it is on the Zumo - will it clean up with the tip of a needle file or something?

Try some WD40 on to the pins of the cradle and press them in several times.

its on the zumo looks as if it has an indentation on it ,have tried cleaning it with no luck .the pins on the cradle seem ok ?

Plenty of travel in the pins, so I'd have a shot at working then in and out with a spray of WD40.

Does the Zumo work in the car cradle? (assuming you have one?)

It's true - they no longer repair the 500 series. Not unreasonable to my mind.

If you kept your complaint reasonable, and non-shoutey - you may be surprised at the deal they may offer you on a 600.

If the GPS works in the car power cradle it is probably the case that bike power cradle is dead. I had this issue with my Zumo 550. Bike power cradle pins looked okay, the fault was inside the cradle where water ingress had killed the connection. Solution was to buy a new bike power cradle, circa £45.

Bumping the thread.

Same here with my 550.
My Zumo started to have a random behaviour while travelling this summer.
It kept switching between battery and power from the bike every minute or so.

Came back, cleaned the contacts, no power anymore from the cradle.

I mounted on my friend's bike (he has a 500, same cradle) and it powers up properly. He had a similar problem and he replaced the cradle.

I think my cradle is gone.
Looking into buying another one... but it would be nice to know if it possible to fix this one.
