Not sure whether this should be here or on the Zumo thread, but here goes;

Out on a trip last weekend when I noticed that that the Zumo was dead.
I tried to switch it back on , with no success, so left it 'till I got home. Removed it from the machine, but was still unable to re-activate it.
I resorted to taking the battery out and refitting it, switched on and it worked OK.
Has anyone had this problem with a 1200GS, and could it be due to a power surge when starting up the machine?
Is it advisable to switch of the Zumo when the machine is stopped e.g When refueling or a quick brew?
Any suggestions welcome, this side of aiming it at a bin !!!:blast

Yes, I had this, it happened when i confused it by taking it out of the cradle whilst switched on.
If you press the two keys together ( + and - ) together with the power switch it will re boot the system. Everything then will be fine

Thanks Oly !!!!
I thought I was the only Tosser from Rochdale.
I will try that when/if it happens again
By the way, nice lid, but doesn't the 'fender' get in the way in traffic??

Yep had this problem to. Went to South France at Spring Bank Hol and this happened,just as I was about to set off. Had, had it on the bike for six weeks with no problem and then Dead Nothing!!!! was gutted, The wife had the answer (they would wouldn't they) take the battery out, it F,,,,G worked. It happened on route to Monaco but presedd the +/- and then the power at the same time bingo it booted up. (did this twice) Then on landing at Plymouth dead again, no small screw driver to remove battery so came home with no sat nav, took battery out and refitted , it works again. Has anyone contacted Garmin on this matter, would be pleased to hear if they have.

Never had a problem. I take it out of the cradle when turned on all the time and it is always the first thing to go on before starting the bike. Mine is wired direct to the battery at the moment but soon making the connector cable for it.

mine has been doing it since i got it. not tried the +/- button trick just took the battery out. When you do the +/- does it clear all stored information?

Non of us that have posted on this matter seem to have read our Quick Referance Guide supplied by Garin( I include myself) whilst whatching F1 with Hamilton behind I read the referance guide and this advises (IF YOUR UNIT FREEZE UP, PRESS AND HOLD THE POWER BUTTON THEN PRESS THE +) this said I still had to resort to battery removal on the last occasion

HUNTER.
