Zumo 550 won't turn off

Bought about 18 months ago from a member, but used only twice.

Put on charge yesterday, now it won't turn off (charge screen still on), unplugged, and frantic pressing of the 'off' button..

Mate try pressing on off and + or - button

Gaining that just remove battery, couple of screws and then replace

The girlfriend applied harder pressure, for longer, since it's glove-friendly controls, I think.

Or maybe she was thinking how hard she has to keep me under the thumb..

Not sure about some of the other garmins, but my experience with the 550 (and a few phone calls to Garmin) is that once in a while it will freeze and lock itself. If it does - pop the battery out. If you're planning a long trip abroad it might well be worth your while taking the baby allen key that fits the battery cover ...
