The question is in the title is it complete rubbish or am I just stupid as to how to make it work.
I will qualify, I had a BMW navigator III and it went in for repair and they sent me a ZUMO 660 as a replacement, but its driving me round the bend as I cant make it do the things I want it to do and my last one could.

1. on the trip computer page how do I get the big speedo and no compass? as compass is no use to me at all but the big speedo is.

2. I cant seem to find how to get it to ask me for Quickest/shortest etc each time I set a route?

there are others but these are the two that are driving me up the wall the most, its nice to have a built in battery but the software is crap compared to the earlier units.

How long ago did you send in for repair? and how much? What was wrong with teh nav 3?

Standard repair fee 150 as I recall

the buttons had stopped working on the unit and cradle

wish I had insisted on waiting for a Nav III or 2820 to be available, as I REALLY dont like this new one.

Ah right as I have a nav 3 and was thinking of upgrading to zumo 660 cos the nav 3 will not take the full mapping any more

I miss the big speedo too, but don't know if it is available either.

Oh, and I haven't :rtfm either.

Be interested when you get some help, love my 660 but if I really need to get somewhere fast I use my old Tom Tom.

You should have seen some of the route it took me on going down to South France, and no I haven’t got it set on Rally mode!! :D

P.S cant you use the big clock fitted on the bike to tell you your speed ?

Yep course I can however it is really convenient to have the GPS set to KM when in Europe and use the big speedo on the gps, a whole hell of site more accurate than trying to make out the little divisions on the KM scale on the bike speedo. No since I do abroad a bit its really important to me.

I managed to get the whole of Europe on mine?

I have to say unless there is something you really need then don't bother, it is complete crap compared to the earlier unit.

sorry no offence meant I forgot, I also use my GPS as a more accurate guide by selecting one of the icons in the corner for a reference of speed. But the ZUMO does tell you the current road speed and your current speed, irritably blipping through blue tooth in you ear when your a tadge over!! :aidan

I know it displays the speed, and in KM or Miles depending on the setting the problem is that I want the LARGE one, there seems to be know way to make the size of the font bigger or to get the speed in the place of the compass. Sound is no good as I dont use it, I dont have a blue tooth helmet and when I tried plugging into the unit I got so much interference that it was not worth the effort.

Just touch one of the icons in the corner and it then brings up a choice of what u want displayed, u can have speed, distance, arrival time etc-dont think it goes full screen tho. To stop the blipping in your ear just go to settings and proximity warnings, u can have it set to audio, visual, both or none at all. Again in settings you can set shortest, fastest, off road, avoidances etc and once you save it this will be the same for every route or address you set. Once u start to mess around and play with it you'll find its pretty good at what its supposed to do.

Yes I got full Western Europe on it at the beginning of the year but since the map updates in the Spring they have grown too big, messed it right up had to go back to Garmin to be fitted. So now my lifetime updates are a bit of a waste but then I have got 4 years worth out of it.

Hence the probable change to the 660 I can increase the sd cards at will and its all there, the file system on the 660 is also far simpler and can be accessed by PC where as the Nav 3 isn't.

I expect eventually with some fiddling you'll find out how to do what you want.

I suspect not, which why this this unit is about to get launched down the street, "useless piece of crap"

I must admit I prefer the earlier Garmins, I really liked and used the options to be able to change font size, and information displayed. The newer units have been "dumbed down" in this area, I believe to make them more user friendly...... I currently have a Zumo 550, but I am considering a Garmin marine/automotive unit as I believe these still have the flexibillity to manipulate the information displayed!
