Zumo 660 wont load all my routes

Just found that the mapsets don't match.
660 map: CN Europe NT 2014.40 3D
PC map: City Navigator Europe NT 2014.4

Is this what's causing all the problems then?

On your computer, somewhere near the top of your screen where all the map tools live, there will be a drop down box, telling you which map version you are using.

On your 660 (I'm having to do this from memory) go to

Start screen

Spanner

Map

Installed map

Check that it's the same as the one on your computer. If they are different, get them the same. Devices can load up routes created in different map versions, though some do struggle sometimes. If nothing else it removes one area where an error might creep in.

The device should be able to load and display a route that is 253 miles long, for sure. 41 viapoints shouldn't be a problem, either. But, I can't remember what the ultimate limit is.

I wonder if there is something odd in the way you have created the route? Maybe with an accidental loop somewhere, which the device is struggling with when it makes the conversion on import.

I have PM'd you my email adress. Send me the file with the route and I'll see if I can make it run. I no longer have a 660 but I can maybe borrow one or at least see if I can run it on my Nav V.

Either way, start with the maps because, without those nothing is going to work.

Looks like the same version 2014.4. You should have another map ticked on the device without the 3D on the end.

On the device that's the only one available.
Just checked internal memory and there is 2.18GB of free space.

My main concern now is that on pressing the address button (to create a route on the 660), it states "No data available"

Bollocks

Sounds like you've no map loaded. The 3 D map is just a file for 3D view for buildings etc

You should see something like this

If not you need to reinstall you maps using Garmin Express, the map size is
4 . 2 GB so you will need to use an SD card as the device is only 4 GB.

I'm attempting to reinstall the map onto the unit. See how that goes.

Get them onto your computer at the same time. It will enable you to plot routes on your computer without having to hitch your 660 to it each time.

Your routes will have been using the base map on the device which is only limited major highways so big mileages. Check the base map setting in BaseCamp & you'll see what I mean.

iand46 is quite right. You need the detailed map installed onto any device (not just the 660) in order for the device to be able to calculate a route accurately.

The basic base map is just a simple collection of main roads. In the UK you might just have the A5 and the M1 through the Midlands for example, it not having the A45 at all and certainly not the minor roads connecting say Northampton to Daventry to Badby.

If you are trying to persuade your 660 to display a 253 mile route, that includes minor roads picked out with viapoints it won't be able to and it gives up. A shorter route might just display with straight lines between the viapoints, there being no roads the device can see to take you along. If by chance a route happened to match up with the main roads the device does have, then it will display quite properly.

Report back when you have your maps up-to-date and installed on the device and your computer. If it then refuses to display or still doubles in length we'll have to think of something else. This will probably be investigating whether the route is created properly and / or if it was created outside of Garmin, via Tire or something similar, say.

I have heard via a PM that the 660 problem has been resolved. The same PM asked that I pass thanks onto all those involved in fixing the map problem. With pleasure.

For some unknown reason the thread was locked. It's now unlocked, again.

Moral of this story....

Always start investigating any route display problems by checking that the map is installed properly. If nothing else it serves to rule out (or confirm) a likely area for a problem to first manifest itself. It's relatively easy to fix, before getting into anything more complicated.
