My new shiney Zumo just arrived!

Anywhere online I can get the Zumo/BMW power cable to plug it directly into the DIN socket?

Speedo: I think Maddocks is the only option, rang duffys (they're closer) and said huh, what, who, can't do that

twisticles: While pretty cheap - I don't fancy taking off the cigarette charger adaptor - I'll need that for the car!

Did your Zumo not come with a bare-end cable with in-line fuse also? Mine did, and the car cigarette lighter cable. If your bike has can-bus you can chop the in-line fuse out of the bare-end cable and wire that into a £4 DIN plug.

Yeah - got that cable too. I'd probably make a balls of it if I tried to do anything like that!

Rang maddocks and they just use that cable and solder a BMW plug on it.

Stumpy posted an article on how to make a Zumo cable to connect to the can bus socket here.

It's pretty straight forward and a neat option as BMW don't produce a Zumo specific cable for the Zumo as far as I'm aware.

Great article alright - but I ain't got none of that equipment - according to maddocks they can make them up for €25...

Thanks for that Andy, only issue with that cable is that there are no DIN sockets on a GS apart from under the seat (unless you add another one yourself).

But there is a CANBUS socket in the headstock near the ignition - designed for a GPS, which I got a CANBUS connector soldered to the cable that comes with the Zumo and it works well.

My only gripe is that the cable is a bit long.

The DIN cable you mention would work for a 650GS and possibly some other BM models with a DIN socket near the front of the bike.

I guess everyone has their own solution for Zumo power supply. The canbus connector way has problems which are well documented in posts all over this site.
I went for a permanently attached to battery DIN socket (doesn't have the canbus probs.) which was easily mounted and looks great. Check out the instrument tidy on page 16 (I think) of Nippy Normans 1200GS accessories.

Like everyone says, works for me.........

:nenau I have not seen any body with any problems doing it the canbus connector way
unless I have missed every thread going about it
