Hi all,

I got my Zumo yesterday (globalpositioningsystems.co.uk) and now have the dilemma of being quoted really really really high prices to fit the damm thing! minimum £100 from any local BMW dealer. Can anyone recommend a pro to fit the thing for a more reasonable price in the Greater London or nearby area? Don't mind paying a decent price for it, but £100 for an hours labour seems a little excessive. I'm happy to fit the mountin kit etc, just need it wired in an I know absoloutely nothig about wiring.

Cheers

p.s zumo looks quite nice though! looking forward to using it

what do you want doing exactly? Just power (switched or permanant live), or linked into an Autocom etc

Also, what bike do you want it fitted to?

cheers

Johnny,

This is real easy......All you need to do is solder the provided wire to your accessory socket connections and run it under your tank cover so you can route it to your mounting point...presumably the clock bar...All you need is a soldering iron and some zip-ties.

I see you're in London, I'd be happy to show you what I did if you like.

Save the £100.

hi all, those were some seriously speedy replies. Need it fitted to an 07 R1200GS. Want to mount unit above dials, and wire so that it comes on with ignition if possible?

What do you mean by sponser myself?

I don''t know 1200's but if the accessory socket turns off with the ignition, then Scott's answer is the one you want :) If it doesn't, then get hold of a wiring diagram and tap into one of the; say; light / horn circuts for the same effect.

cheers

If you're in West London then you're welcome to come and see how I mounted my Zumo. Become a sponsor and send me a PM......

Zumo Mounting points

I agree that the mounting point above the instruments does look very neat but IMHO if you go for a LHS handlebar mount the unit is far more accesible. I have just come back from a 2000 mile trip on a 1200 GSA and with all the GPS info available plus the MP3 and phone options connected up I felt that the unit is best positioned there. Just my view of course. I am still struggling however to get tthe volume on the unit high enough to hear it through the autocom unit. Any suggestions?
