Can anyone recommend the best after market ball mount for a Zumo 550 on the 1200RT? TIA

Cheers Al, Migsel stuff is good but pricey for what it is. I remember seeing a straight mount that screws into the handlebar bracket. about 75mm tall with the ball mount to fix to. I would prefer something along those lines but can't find it on the interweb.

The straight mount ...

... is a Ram part, no idea what number it is :nenau

Edit: Found it here

Not wishing to piss on anyone's bonfire, but the RAM mount is great if you don't mind a bit of glare and reflection from the GPS screen. Also, if you use a tank bag, it tends to get in the way of a clear view of the screen too unfortunately.
Best option is to use BMW's own bracket which mounts above the instrument then chase the wire down and connect up to the accessory socket just under the binnacle.

I use the M8 RAM ball which replacing one of the handlebar screws on the top yoke, so looks neat when the RAM arm and GPS mount isn't fitted.

You do need a long RAM arm though to position the GPS at the same level as the clocks.

The reasons I bought Migsel were as follows:

1. it looks fine on the RT it has nice lines
2. luckily I had tried my 550 mount on a friends BMW mount on which he has a 660 and it would not have fitted. The 550 mount has lower drop.
3. There are no additional holes to drill
4. They are nice to deal with

I could send a photo if required?

I have one on my RT and no complaints.

I do have a Telfrizer one that has been on the bike unused for the past 18 months if you'd like to offer me £15.00 plus postage? :augie

:thumb2 for migsel...

I know it's expensive but to a large extent you get what you pay for... I had the BMW mount-bar at first but the Migsel bar really is much nicer... (no interset in the product other than being a customer...!)
