Just trying to unlock SWMBO's Zumo 500 package. The dumbass process asks for a 20 digit code, the only code or serial number anywhere in the pile of junk is just 10 digits long and there is no unlock coupon.

No, it isn't ripped off, it arrived this morning from globalpositioningsystems.co.uk but everything has now stalled.

Any ideas apart from using force?

it should be on a sheet of paper in the box, a yellow piece of paper about A5 size, its along the bottom, but its not obvious that its the unlock code, look in the box carefully

Ah, the yellow sheet:blast

Actually, I found it about 3mins ago and thought WTF is that?

Now, that is sorted can I shift the maps onto a SD card and what size SD card is needed for Europe V9?

This is fun

dunno would have thought so though, mine is the 550, with all the maps loaded, but iv'e fitted a 4gb card in for Mp3's, try selecting all the maps in mapsource and see how big they are

maps

I cheated and bought a ready loaded garmin SD card ( I use a mac and it was just easier) But 2G should load all of v9 europe I'm told....

I thought the maps/databases went into the Zumo main memory?

Is it worthwhile downloading all the maps etc onto an additional 2GB card as a back-up? If so - is it just a case of transferring to the root directory of the card, and then - how do you get the Zumo to look at the card for maps etc on the hoof?

Or am I talking/asking bollox?

Al

I'm pretty sure the maps can be stored on the SD card and the internal memory, it will read off both :) :thumb2

AFAIK 500 europe maps need to be loaded to SD card
550 preloaded to units main memory
