Zumo volume fix

Anyone found out if there is a fix for the low volume on the Zumo 550?

Problem I have is when it's used in the car cradle volume is low.

I'm feeding it into an Autocom so I wouldn't have thought it would matter. But then I'm no expert.

Well that should be different as the autocom should (i presume) have a higher output to drive helmet speakers.

Sounds to me like your autocom is the issue (low impedence) as the Zumo will drive headphones fine.

you do have it powered when its in the car cradle? i've only used it once in the car, but didn't have it turned up to full to hear it. anyone near you with one, so you can test/compare units?

I retract my previous comments.

The zumo chipset amp is current limited and will only drive earphones. I've retro fitted my helmet with speakers yesterday (did away with earphones) and the Zumo can't power them.

I've built a small amp based on the LM377N chipset which will boost the signal. It only requires seven or so components and is easy to make.
