Zumo questions

Have they upgraded to allow switching off of auto recalculate

Can you switch off autozoom.

Does it cover unsealed roads in Australia

Is it compatible with starcom advanced 1

I noticed now their are new model Zumos, I assume the later the better?

What's the screen resolution like

276c

This unit is fairly dated, garmin is still demanding top dollar, why?

Is this unit complicated to use

Basically I need a machine that is simple to use, covers sealed and unsealed Australian roads, has voice prompting, and is curent tech.

Any relevent info will be appreciated, thank you !

Here a 276C is 639 can dollars (679.934 AUD) and 550 Zumo is 919 (978.191 AUD).

I have a 276C and really like it. It does what I want.

The Zumo does had more non-GPS stuff.

"Add Optional Traffic, Weather, and Radio
With optional XM subscriptions and an XM antenna, you can check the weather, move ahead of traffic and listen to the radio when you travel with zumo. As an alternative, zumo can receive optional TMC traffic alerts (in select cities) when used with a compatible traffic receiver. Simply press a button on the screen, and zumo recalculates your route to avoid traffic tie-ups.

Make Hands-Free Calls and Receive Wireless Voice Prompts
With zumo’s Bluetooth® wireless technology, you can talk on the phone safely without removing your gloves or helmet. Connect zumo to your Bluetooth-enabled headset/helmet and cell phone to make and receive hands-free calls. You can even make phone calls to POIs through zumo’s Bluetooth interface. In addition, zumo transmits navigation voice prompts to your headset so you can listen wirelessly."

Wow, cheap prices over there North - here, the 276C is around the £440 mark at the cheapest - that's C$995! The Zumo 550 is only about £40 (C$90) more than that.

At those prices, I'd definitely be interested in a 276c!

City Navigator Australia v7 covers all sealed rural roads, all 2WD dirt roads and about 50% coverage of 4WD tracks. It does not have single track.

This mapset comes preloaded on the Australian zumo 550 and can be bought in a package with the GPSmap 276C.

You need to talk to Starcom to see if the have a cable for these units.
