Has anyone tried fitting the autocom speakers and mike to the new BM enduro helmet, I am stumped!

Perhaps an alternative 'in ear' headphone would work but this still doesn't get over the mike issue....

Any help or suggestions gratefully received.

Below are some photos of how I fitted the system. The helmet pads and straps are similar to my Schuberth C2 so I used the Autocom advice as well.

The cheek pads and chin piece are a VERY tight fit in the helmet shell to keep them in place. They will come out but be careful that you don't break the polystyrene pads using to much force:eek:

The wires tuck around the back pad of the helmet and the boom mike is simply lodged between the left cheek pad and the outer shell

I have made a small cut in the chin piece to allow room for the boom. It can be adjusted when the helmet is on so the VOX works properly.

I have sunk the speakers into the cheek pads by removing some of the outer foam padding and some polystyrene so they don't rub against my ears.

Be warned removing any of the polystyrene will probably invalidate any warranty and it may affect the helmets performance in a crash.

This shows both pads and chin piece out with the wires going round the back pad. I fixed the wires to the pads using sellotape and the connector simply hangs out of the lower left side of the helmet.

If there is anything else let me know.

My hubby fitted the Autocom headset into my BMW Enduro helmet.

What in particular are you stumped with?? PM me if you like and then I can get hubby to explain how he fitted mine :D

I have to say, it works a treat :D

Cheers

Shirley

PS Did you not get an 'instruction booklet' with your lid?? I think it came in quite useful when my husband fitted mine.

Thanks Folks

I'll have a more detailed look at what you did later. It looks like I've got to get the butchers knife out though  Yes I got the instruction manual but it didn't tell me alot -all in pigeon german like the other manuals!

I have tried twice previously and all I seem to do is 'wreck' the fit, particularly of the chin piece which now seems looser than when I had bought it an hour previously!

Now where's that knife......

There is a lip on the cheek pads which effectively locks the chin piece in place. It is awkward to get it to go back properly but leave the knife in the drawer!!

PM if you want

I know what you mean Peter but its now a loose fit! I shall perservere though and PM you if I have any trouble. I'll buy some glue tomorrow and some tape and have a go then.

Thanks for all your advice its given me more confidence -mind you the wine helps too!

I just did this with my new helmet...

Was great to be able to do it all without tools (except a knife). I removed the bit of white foam that seems installed purely for the reason of taking up space for the speakers... I may have to trim a bit more soft-foam as my ears are still getting pressed, but it's tolerable for now... I removed the foam wrapping from the Autocom speakers, which helped a lot.

I had a little trouble positioning the "sweet spot" of the speakers due to the fact that my ear-holes are very close to the place where the strap comes through, but I've gotten close enough in the end. I ran the wire between the two speaker around the back of the helmet at the bottom... lots of room and it's wedged in by the insert tabs..

Rather than positioning the pig-tail horizontally between the shell and cheek plates (as shown in the installation guides), I've shoved it up vertically, quite close to the joint between cheek plate and rear insert... It fits that way much better than horizontally.

I find the LH plate is now out a tiny bit more than I'd like, but am not willing to remove any safety foam at this point.... The fact that the foam is covered in fabric is mostly what's stopping me... I don't think a pencil sized slot would really effect the helmet safety enough to worry about...
