A40 - Kings Cross to Fishguard (and back)

This weekend I rode this road, there and back again, for the second time this year and it is a great mix of everything except motorway. The tedious bit is through the Wycombes (High, Low and in between - bl**dy hell, there are piss poor drivers and too many roundabouts there!) but once you break out beyond Stokenchurch the world is laid bare before your wheels.
Favourite bit is between Huntley (Glos) to Camarthen (both ways) - lots of lovely countryside and bendy roads along with a few blasts down empty dual carriageways. Even the caravans & motorhomes were just tiny flecks of grit in the vaseline of life.
BTW, great bacon rolls and friendly types at Abergavenny.

thats why i start from wycombe its a great ride, im not to keen on the oxford bit though

I agree, the Oxford stretch is a bit dull and there are one or two cameras. But nevertheless it beats the Kings Cross through Wycombe(s) stretch hands down. You need a bit of pain to feel the gain.
