I had a little experiment the other day. If you forget to shut an RT pannier properly, what happens when you go round a bend and the lid is open? :blast The answer is that it makes the handling very exciting as the lid does not close but lifts the rear. It also has the side effect of sandpapering a large chunk of paintwork down to the plastic. :( Which brings me neatly to my question.

Where can I get some paint to touch it up? It doesn’t merit a new lid at over £200. Properly touched up it won’t look too bad but it needs an aerosol, etc. The problem is that BM have stopped supplying any touch up or aerosol paint. I have tried Halfords and a specialist paint shop; neither of which can mix the relevant colour (Piedmont Red Code: 911 or 912 depending on who you speak to).

I have spoken to RS Motorbike Paint who were very helpful but could only supply in a large quantity at £86.

Anybody got any ideas where I could source the paint at a reasonable cost?

Have a look in the yellow pages for local automotive paint suppliers, most of the trade suppliers of paint can mix from a colur code, many will be able to do it as an aerosol, a local facture to me in Leicestershire does it for aboit £8 a tin last time i had any

Thanks. I'll start working my way through the list. The problem to date is finding someone who has this paint code listed (you would think it was straightforward; its been around for a couple of years).

Cheers.
